What is Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hair mesotherapy?
Platelet-rich plasma is a treatment that depends on taking a blood sample from the body and placing it in a special device that separates it from the rest of the blood components. Plasma itself is rich in platelets and growth factors that are naturally present in it. These products are considered a powerful stimulant for skin regeneration and help stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth. While mesotherapy or growth stimulants are special substances that contain vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients necessary for hair health, growth and density.
How long does the treatment take?
A PRP and mesotherapy treatment usually takes 40 to 60 minutes to complete. This time period accounts for an extra half-hour for applying topical numbing cream and preparing the PRP.
Is it painful?
Having some minor discomfort when the PRP or mesotherapy is injected into your scalp is possible. Usually, one experiences a burning or tingling feeling. This feeling subsides within a few minutes after injection. Throughout the entire procedure, we make sure our patients are comfortable, and we relieve any discomfort with stress-ball, vibrators, cold and topical numbing lotion.
How many sessions do I need?
Each patient requires a different number of treatments to achieve the desired outcome. In general, two to three treatments are recommended, although for certain people, more can be necessary.
Is there a downtime for this treatment?
Generally, PRP and mesotherapy associated with no downtime; however, you can have some little eodema in certain places, discomfort at the sites of injection. Each patient's healing process is unique; however, you can go back to daily activities the moment you leave your doctor’s office.
When can I wash my hair?
You can wash your hair 12 – 24 hours after session.
Are there contraindications for this treatment?
Patients with certain health conditions are not a candidate for PRP injections. Discuss with your doctor if you have any health issues. Patients with infectious diseases (Hepatitis, HIV..etc) are prohibited from blood containing procedures.
